This was an era-defining and innovative concert—in a world-first, Lily Xie’s debut featured a solo performance of “Grudge of Capital City,” on both piano and guzheng, played by herself independently, completely shattering the traditional paradigm of a concerto performance. First, she performed the piano part through a Steinway & Sons SPIRIO|r, a high-resolution player piano, and recorded her performance. Then, she edited and played back the piano part and performed the guzheng accompaniment live. With this harmonious performance of both accompaniments and her ability to perform and innovate a “solo concerto,” she accomplished an inventive performance using SPIRIO|r, a high-resolution player piano from Steinway & Sons and a Chinese musical instrument (guzheng), making her the first pioneer and innovator in the fusion of modern technology and traditional art for a luxury piano brand with a century of history.

This novel performance style not only gained her overwhelming renown and appreciation around the world, but also created a huge sensation in the local music industry, particularly in the field of youth musical education. Guaranteed to encourage the concerto performances of the SPIRIO|r, a high-resolution player piano, and other traditional instruments from both east and west, this revolutionary performance style will usher in a whole new wave of indoor concerts! A professional from Steinway & Sons commented: “this is the most innovative youth classical music performance in North America (Canada) in three years!”
